About Me
My name is Malcolm. I’m a psychiatrist (MRCPsych) offering psychotherapy specifically for adults with ADHD. I also have ADHD, diagnosed in adulthood, and that dual perspective shapes how I work. I understand the clinical picture and the lived experience, and I take both seriously.
WHAT I'VE NOTICED
Working with late-diagnosed adults, I’ve noticed something consistent: many people arrive carrying a strong internal sense of fairness, compassion, and justice, alongside deep frustration that their brain doesn’t always let them act on those values reliably. That gap between who they know they are and how they can show up is often where the real pain sits. It’s something I understand personally, and it’s central to the work I do here.

BACKGROUND
I trained in psychiatry with integrated psychotherapy competencies, including psychodynamic psychotherapy and art therapy. I currently work in a specialist adult ADHD service, assessing, diagnosing, and treating ADHD across a range of presentations. I’ve worked with hundreds of adults through the diagnostic process and the identity questions that follow it.
THERAPEUTIC APPROACH
My therapeutic approach draws on three traditions:
-
Psychodynamic and relational therapy, which is the foundation of my work, involves making sense of patterns, identity, and emotional experience within a trusting relationship.
-
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), which I use particularly when the work centres on values, self-compassion, and learning to hold difficult experiences without being overwhelmed by them.
-
Cognitive Behaviour Therapy+ (CBT+) adapted for ADHD, which I draw on when focused, structured work on specific patterns is what’s needed.
HOW I WORK
My style is calm, direct, and unhurried. I maintain a small caseload because depth matters more than volume. There’s no pressure to arrive with the right problem or perform insight. We work at your pace, and the understanding builds over time.
